Annodex at W3C Video Workshop

Michael Dale, Chris Double and Silvia Pfeiffer in December 2007 attended the W3C Video Workshop and presented about the new video element in Mozilla and what cool things can be done with Ogg on the Web. Michael showed off the Mediawiki extensions he created that demonstrates what "Web integrated video" can really mean.

EthnoER - linguists using Annodex

Linguists are using Annodex to transcribe and share their research data online. It's an awesome outcome of the EthnoER project at Sydney University and may set the standard for the future of ethnographic research!

linux plugin update

I've just put up a newer version of the plugin that doesn't hang at the end of audio-only files. I suspect this bug was not specific to Linux, either, so I'll try to get Windows and Mac versions up soon.

Shane's presentation on Annodex for us in ethnographic research

www.annodex.net upgrade

I just upgraded drupal to version 5.2. I hope that with this upgrade, the site will be more stable. I apologize for the downtime - it was much more difficult to get all the modules and site code in sync and up to date than I expected. But then - we hand't done an updated in a long time.

Drupal turned out to have a very nice update script now, where everything is done through the web interface. Quite nice really.

I am planning to install a spam module so we can get the spam problem under control.

libfishsound 0.8.0 Release

This release includes compatibility with the floating point portion of the libfishsound development trunk API, in preparation for use with liboggplay. In order to build a minimal version of libfishsound for use with liboggplay, configure with encoding disabled in order to produce a smaller binary and to remove the dependency on libvorbisenc. See the Configuration section of the documentation for details.

Changes

  • Improved consistency of frame number reporting: for both Vorbis and Speex, the frame number is always updated before calling the user's callbacks for encoding or decoding.
